Texas Dancehall Ride sponsored by Sugar Cycles

Sugar Cycles would like to welcome you to the 3rd annual Texas Dance Hall Ride on March 10, 2012.

30-miles 45-miles 65-miles

This is a newly redesigned course, heading further north to La Grange Monument Hill. Cyclists will enjoy the rolling hills of Fayette County, while viewing historic Dance Halls and Painted churches. Rest stops will be provided every 7 to 10 miles at historic land marks. This is a great way to tour the Texas back roads and enjoy small town hospitality. There will be plenty of free parking the morning of the event. Restrooms and showers will be made available to all cyclists who attend. For more info on the ride and routes, please visit http://www.sugarcycles.com.

The Art, Wine & Music Fest held in conjunction with Sugar Cycles' 3rd annual Texas Dance Hall Ride will be held March 10, 2012 in downtown Schulenburg. Street vendors, artists and authors displaying their works, live bluegrass, cowboy and Texas swing music, tour of local businesses and wine tasting will make up this spring festival.

The ride will start at 9am. The art show starts at 2 PM, wine tasting trail at 4 PM, and live music begins at 5 PM.

Event concludes at 9 PM.

We encourage the entire family to attend for the day or weekend.

2012 Spring Rides

General Information

Cougar Cycling encourages all forms of two wheeled disciplines. The club consists of members participating in road riding, mountain biking, track racing, cyclocross, triathlons, and of course recreational rides.

The University of Houston competes in the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (SCCCC). Our racing teams participate in multiple races throughout the fall and spring semesters, gaining both individual points and overall team points for the entire year.

Our team also seeks to improve our community through volunteering. The UH Cycling Club actively participates in charity rides, trail cleanups, and other forms of goodwill. It is of great importance to the team that we uphold the tradition of an outstanding student body at the University of Houston.

Membership only requires that you are currently enrolled at the University of Houston. As of now, we have started taking $25 membership dues. These dues get you a free team t-shirt, race fees paid, and most travel expenses covered.

A special alumni team is in the works. Please continue to visit our website for any updates.
