Open registration for the Ms 150 starts on October 15. I've never participated in the event and want to but I'm not familiar with the specifics of registration. The MS 150 site isn't helpful. Does each rider need to pledge the $400 fundraising minimum? Will Cougar Cycling be participating? Where do I look for information on joining a team? Any other information will be appreciated.

Cougar Cycling may do this event. Or as we did last year was go on Sunday and do the whole thing in one day. You have to register for the ride, and then you will have to turn and raise $400. That is due generally in sometime in may. You can find help for money from family, friends, businesses.

I did the MS 150 last year and probably will again this year. Yes, each person has to raise $400, which is separate from the entry fee of $100.
Last year I joined the Memorial Hermann team, which cost an extra $30 or so. I am in no way affiliated with the hospital, they were accepting anyone. It was good to join an established team because it gave me a place to stay in LaGrange, along with food at LaGrange and at the end in Austin. Plus they carried my bag. The Hermann team was also providing accomidations for a Montessori school team, so it might be possible for UH to find a team tent to crash.
If you are going to officially do the ride, I would suggest signing up on the first day possible. You don't have to join a team at that time, but the registration fills quickly.

I think I remember it selling out in 1 or 2 weeks last year. So you have to register quick if you're going to do it.

I've always wanted to do this ride. But I never understood why ya'll did it all in one day last year. Isn't camping out in LaGrange part of the fun?

Isn't fun to ride 160+ miles in about 12 hrs? I don't but I will when I do it. Where is the fun in waiting like cows to get your bike on the second day?

Why would you have to wait for you bike like a cow? Isn't it with you in your tent or on your car? I've never been just curious.

The ride is great. I run the company team here and last year we ended up merging with the Sun&Ski team through a friend. This year, we may either do that again or join CC Riders who I've been riding with for years now.
If you guys are interested in joining a team, let me know and we'll plan something together if you'd like. You don't have to join a team right off the bat as long as you register in time. But make sure that if you want to do it through the MS Society, that you sign up on the 15th. Last year registration closed in 9 days...I predict this year will be sooner than that! Unfortunately, the costs have gone up a LOT!!! Now registration is $100 and you do have to raise $400.
For the fundraising, as long as you raise the money before the next race, you'll be alright. The May deadline for fundraising applies to those who are looking at raising enough money to get one of the fundraising prizes.
Any questions? =P

Is anyone planning on doing this in two days?
I would like to do this, but I don't think I can do it in one day.

I think I will do the ride in two days. I like the break to drink beer. I haven't decided what team I will join yet, so if there are other people riding with a good team that will take me let me know. My requirements are good food and at least one keg in LaGrange.

If you are going to officially do this ride, registration starts today and will fill up fast.
I joined the Sugar Cycles/Michelob Ultra team. They are not charging any fees. I thought about riding with St. Arnold brewery but they have an outrageous team fee in addition to the registration fee.
