Guidelines to follow for renewing your collegiate racing license. This mainly important to those upgrading catagories.
Collegiate cyclists,
With 2009 upon us and the spring collegiate road season approaching,
many riders are aggressively renewing their Collegiate and USA Cycling
licenses in preparation for the upcoming races.
A few reminders that will help everyone in this process.
1) I ask you forward this message to all team members that may not
be on the list serv to spread the word.
2) Renew early and preferably online. It will save time from
filling out the annual application at the first race youdo this
season. Also you will get a hard copy of your license quicker since
the paper method depends on how quickly the race promoter submits the
paperwork.
3) Check ALL your racing Categories, and request upgrades BEFORE
or Immediately following renewing. If they are incorrect when you
renew, then they will be incorrect when it is mailed. If you request
the upgrade immediately following your renewal, your license will
temporarily pend to allow the upgrade request to be reviewed and
resolved, so the license you receive in the mail is correct. If you
don't do this, then you will have to request a reissued license which
costs additional $$, which you don't want.
4) If you have questions about the Collegiate Categories, then
please review the documents that explain it here.
5) Please look past Road racing as well to consider your MTB, CX,
and Track categories. Some of these disciplines correlate with another
discipline. For example, if you race either Collegiate XC A or Road A,
then you have the option to be licensed as a Collegiate CX A as well
per the rules.
6) New USA Cycling MTB categories are following a numerical system
in 2009. If you have questions of how they work or how they relate to
Collegiate, review the FAQs here.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me or your
Conference Director, directly. Looking forward to a great year of
Collegiate Cycling!
