I meant to add that we all kicked ass on this one, i think it was pretty tough ride given the heat and the few surprise hills, no joke, not so Katy Flatland actually.   So you guys who finished; yeah, pretty pimp  Smiley

Pretty much all of us: Athar, Oliver, and Trey were late because traffic to Rhodes Stadium was horrible. (Katy Mills is always a better parking option.) Thus, we all waited for everyone to get to the start, but we ended up starting with the 40 mile group. There were also many century riders with us, so we all had the same idea of catching up to make up lost time and to miss the heat of the day.  We had a good group going, skipped the first rest stop, with many people tagging along due to Athar's, Oliver's, and Trey's awesome pulling. At around mile 30, on the way to the 2nd rest stop we stopped, there was about a mile section of "off road" portion. That was an unexpected surprise for sure! It reminded me of the fun and terror of Tunis. From mile 50-60, we apparently were on the wrong road but didn't know it b/c many other cyclists did the same thing and assumed it was the route. Oops. We thought we going to be short about 10 miles because of this, but it actually turned out to add miles.  Also, on that same road, some crazy lady started cussing @ the sag vehicle ( who was the one who had told us we were off course) because he  and all other cyclists were "in the way" (although we were riding ON THE SHOULDER). Although this was not cool, it was entertaining and kept up the energy levels. We go back on course and kept it pretty tempo from about mile 70 on, and cruised on into the finish. Our final mileage was 103, and was made perfect with the a big plate of spaghetti & meatballs with a snowcone.

Hrm, I think I see the HHH in the near future...

Slopes tend to seem steeper when they sneak up at 24-25mph. My legs hated me today!  Sad
