Hello everyone.  I live on campus and I wanted to see if anyone is interested in doing morning rides leaving from campus.  Don't have a route yet but we could figure that out.

I might be interested.  I don't know if there are any good routes from campus.  Anyone else know of any routes?

Well I don't know the best route but I'm sure if we just get on the road we can figure it out.  As long as I can spin I'm happy.

I bike all over Houston and know a few good routes- but it's always on my mountain bike so I am not sure how road-bike friendly they will be. One route you can take is south on Cullen to the Bayou. If you follow the bayou trail, it is a good 20 miles or so and goes as far as Gessner. You can double back from Gessner and go north on Renwick, which has a bike lane. This will take you up past San Felipe. From there if you follow the bike path signs eastward, you can get to Memorial park. If you still need more riding, go north on Crestwood (just east of Memorial) until you get to Washington. From Washington, go east until you hit TC Jester. If you follow TC Jester north you will get to White Oak bayou, where there is a nice multi-use trail. From there, you can make you way back through the Heights, down Waugh, and then there are plenty of routes to take you back to the Bayou. I think if you did that full loop it will be about 45 miles. From memory, that's about the most road-bike friendly route I can think of. Most streets are pretty torn up.

I live 5 miles away from campus. I can always meet anyone up on campus and ride. I have been riding around my neighborhood by myself on tuesdays afternoon; I usually take lawndale street, a section of griggs, 75th until I complete at least 10 miles(I know its not alot but remember I am riding by myself!). Call me lazy, but I dont feel like making it to memorial to ride road nowadays unless I wanna do mtb then I really look forward to drive to the park.  Grin
PM me or call me if you want to ride twoeightone 9four3 forty-seven3eight.
