I have been wanting to try this sport for the longest time but never knew where to start. I have been saving up for a bike but I know nothing about bikes. What do you all recommend to ride around houston? I am looking to spend no more than 450 bucks (mainly b/c thats all I have). Any suggestions are welcome!

Well, I am leaning more towards a road bike. What is the difference between a road bike and a cyclocross? I was looking around online and found this place by my house that has an '09 SPECIALIZED LANGSTER for $500. Is that a good price?

A langster is a single speed track bike. It will only have one gear and it might not even have a free hub which means you can't stop pedaling. I doubt this is a bike you want. A cyclcross bike will have wider seatstays and fork so you can run a wider tire.

Wow there is way too much I do not know. Maybe I should wait to meet you guys so that I can make a smart choice. When is your next meeting? And how do I get the paper work and dues in to you?
