A couple of friends and myself are planning on doing this one.. just wondering if anyone else had plans to do this one or wanted to give triathlons a try.
Could start training early and get in some good time splits. =]

I saw a bunch of Texas State students in the Austin one last week... I know theres a bunch of Cougars out there that wanna do some triathlons..

I always like this one.  If I do it, I'll do the half.  I'll have to look at my work schedule and see if I can do it.

We got a long time to work at it bro. come on!! Even if you don't do well on the swim, I'm sure you'll make up for it on the bike anyways.. haha

I wouldn't do this particular race if you haven't done open water swimming.  The sprint is probably fine, but in the quarter and half, you are really far off shore in the bay.  And it can get a little choppy.  Also you really need to invest in a wet suit for this one.  The water is usually cold.  Last year during the half, I did fine in a sleeveless wetsuit but my face was freezing every time I put it in the water.  I really like the swim for this race but I am comfortable in the open water, I'm just slow.  The swim is good for someone like me though because the salt water and wetsuit combo makes you super bouyant.

I loved it! I'll do it again. I'll tell you right now I did the quarter, and it was tough! Jillian is right, the water's course was pretty far out into the bay and extremely cold, plus I couldn't couldn't see in it. Every time I stuck my head in the water, I was paralyzed with shock! Its so cold and intimidating. You will need a good open water swim foundation. Amazingly I thought the run was the hardest part. I thought it would be the easiest. I really wished that more of us were there. I'm debating between the olympic distance or half.

Well his next year will hopefully be better if they open up the whole course rather than have to cut it short because of Ike damage. Smiley
