Hi my name is Eric and I'm looking forward to joining this team

I'm currently attending Lone Star College in Kingwood and have decided to apply and transfer early to UH to join the team. I've been riding on and off for the past 6 years, and I can clearly say I love the sport. However, I recently bought my first road bike this year so I consider myself a newbie. My experience and knowledge come from Bicycling magazine, trail and error, a few group rides, and one charity ride.

When I get to UH I plan on earning a BS in Kinesiology to learn what an athlete needs to perform on and off the field. I have high expectations and dreams for myself, and I'm prepared to fail in some attempts because thats the best way I learn. I'm heavily committed and I deeply understand pain comes before gain. I know I have an immense amount of work ahead of me if I expect to reach my expectations, but I also know I've got the passion and dedication to complete the work.

I noticed on the forums that you guys ride on T/Th at Memorial Park, but I'm wondering if the time has changed due to the end of Daylight Savings Time?

Also, I'm planning on becoming a member on USAC but am wondering if its better to wait until next year to sign up. I don't plan on attending any races until I join the team so I don't necessarily need one now. I just want to avoid paying dues for the '09 year and then once again for '10.

One last thing, is there going to be a meeting at the beginning of the year for new and old members?

Thanks and hope to see you all soon!

welcome Eric!
wait to get a usac license until next year. there are not that many events through the rest of the year.
the time can change depending when you want to get out there. just post what time you can make it and maybe we can join.  im off at 4:30 so i can get out to the park earlier.
there will be a meeting for the spring semester but that is tbd.
hope that answers some questions..

Also, some of us will be riding tomorrow. I am not sure what time I will be riding, either 3ish or 5ish

Thanks for the replies.

I'm a morning rider, and i doubt people are available due to work or school.
