The crit started with many attacks. Almost got the first prime ( it felt like a good sprint) but almost is not good enough. 5 people broke away and I thought they will not get anywhere. I was wrong. Finished 2 of the filed sprint finish, and 7th over all (I think).
My back hurts. I am going to sleep.

I finished 12th in the road race and 11th (out of roughly 15) in the crit, both after getting dropped. it seems like Men's C is a little tougher this year. (or I have not been training well enough)
I crashed once in the road race... there was this one section with huge rocks and going over them the bike just goes where ever it wants to. I was looking straight ahead and my bike was taking me off to the left. I slowed down and fell. I actually had a chance to unclip and stand up instead of hitting the ground with my body, but my bike still fell over... does that count as a crash?
Anyway, I thought it was a tougher course than last year. Congrats to everyone who rode it.
Oh yeah, our highlight of the weekend was when Courtney won all three primes in the Women's B crit and took a second place finish as well!

Here is my race report. The road race started off good, nervous as usual. The first pass through the dirt section was fast. I stayed in the front pack before a crash to my left startled me. I found myself losing control in the sand section going left to right thinking somehow I got a flat. So I stopped to check. Nope no flat…the lead group passed me up. Finishg up the first lap I can see a few riders going through the dirt section. Working with a few guys in this pac was good and casual. We pass the dirt section and onto the rough road section then I hit a pothole which forced my left shifter to slip and locked my front break up. Almost going over the bars I thought I had a flat. I did a quick adjustment and was back on the bike, but the group was gone. At the finish hill I catch up to a guy who got dropped and we were working together. Having cramps come and go I pushed through it. Finishing up the 3 lap we catch up to a tech rider who was on a single speed and with 1000m to go, my legs couldn’t take it anymore. Both quads cramped up and I couldn’t pedal. With my momentum going uphill I find myself looking for a place to fall and wondering how was I supposed to do this. I couldn’t move my legs and I just fell over right pass the 100m mark. It was bad. I was on the ground for a good 5 min or so, my quads cramping the whole time. Not fun. That was the end of my race. Thanks Athar for the support!
The crit was a fun one. With what seemed as a nutural start, me and Oliver at the front just cruising. The race started right at the last turn of the first lap. The tech rider jumped out on the prime lap and I was unable to catch back on. I was alone for a lap almost bridging the gap. Looking back I saw a few riders and waited for them. Working together we managed to get back to the main pack. No one wanted to do any work until the last few laps. I got stretched out on the last lap behind 2 riders that couldn’t keep the pace. Looking at the main field, 4 A&M riders 1 UT ahead of me, there was no way I would catch up to them. I drafted of Austin from A&M to the last turn and took him on the sprint. Finishing 6 overall. Not bad for not having any legs the day before.
Great job to Adam on his first road race, you did good. ladies, nice job! Athar, thanks for all the support. Nando, sorry about your car.. thanks for showing up!
Onto the next race.

Does anyone know the full races results for everyone who raced for UH and how many people were out there cheering us on? I am going to need to get that the Rashad ASAP and they haven't posted the results yet.

A great job by all Coogs out there this weekend! It was good seeing a good amount of red in the fields!
Adam: Great job in the crit...hope you're hooked!
Yvonne: Good seeing you out there and you did a lot better than I would have (hence why I didn't do it...and not much of a roadie...hehe)
Cupcake: Good job out there...you did too much work though and it caught up to you imho.
Izzy: Great sprint finish man..got some good shots!
Ollie: Same as cupcake...seems you guys took on the lead for too long and it caught up with you as well...but you kept it up through to the end!
Court: Congrats! Next time though, ignore someone saying to wait up for teammates and just spin spin spin and drop them...but either way, you did awesome!
Am I missing anyone?
About the car: Don't get tires rotated before a state inspection...Discount Tire broke off two lugs and cross threaded a third in my car and didn't tell me. Instead, they just didn't tell me and never put a nut on the wheel. So, when Car Spa looked at the car, I didn't pass inspection and had to argue with DT who finally admitted to the issue and agreed to fix my car...but...job will take 5 hours of labor and parts that aren't available until Tuesday. Car is temporarily fixed with splines and it passed...but it's what held me for four hours in Houston on Saturday morning and I missed the road race. But I still made it up later in the day and made it out to the crits to watch Coogs and Sugar have a good turnout and results!
