I'm allergic to swimming...

« on: February 15, 2010, 08:26:38 PM »

BUMP!  Are you crazy tri folk interested in a meeting?  Let me know when you'd like to and can make it...we'll make it happen!

I'd like for all of us to meet and get to know each other and talk about our goals, dreams and aspirations...I want to be an astronaut! =P
-------------

Howdy Tri folk!

So we had a couple of team meetings regarding our club team and race schedule.  Now I would like to have a tri specific meeting.  In the past, we have not had a very high interest in the sport and would like to make a push to get it known that we do exist and also promote it more within the club and university.

This week might be a little crammed with projects and exams, so let's shoot for next Tuesday February 23rd at 7:00PM at Coffee Groundz.  2503 Bagby (directly across from Spec's Warehouse in Midtown).

This way we can all meet face to face and discuss what we've accomplished, what we want to focus on and how we can help each other out throughout the season.

Edit: If you have an idea of what races you would like to/will be doing this season, bring them along as well.

How does this date/time sound for you all folks?  We can change the date if necessary, but the sooner the better since the season is about to start!

I have class 6-9 on Tuesday's, but I still would like to join you guys in doing some tri's. Do the races vary in terms of length; sprints, olympic, halfs, etc? I am a beginner so I'm sure I won't be winning anything for us, but I like a challenge! Let me know! Thanks!

Becca,

There are different lengths of tri races: super sprint, sprint, olympic and half/full IM.

You can join us anytime you want at any training we do.  If you want to try and reach me after class, I will probably still be there at Groundz afterwards...it's my home away from home. Tongue

From campus the easiest thing to do is take Elgin towards downtown, hang a right on Brazos St and you'll see it on your left as you see the HUGE Spec's on the right.

or you could always give me a ring when you get out and can repeat the directions if you get lost. Tongue

Are you guys up for a leisure brick prior to the meeting?  Say...5pm at the picnic loop and we do an hour of riding and an easy loop running?

Then we can all caravan over to Groundz sweaty and tired and grab some java/tea/pastry/cakeball/gelatto....

UPDATE:
Um...yeah...so we will be having snow/sleet/rain mix tomorrow afternoon.  So it seems that cycling may be out tomorrow.  But for those crazy enough, we could meet up at Groundz at say...530 and go for a leisure 6 mile run in the wet?  Or, stay warm indoors and just meet up at 7.  Up to you guys.
