Hey Andres, congrats on upgrading to 4.  I am going to use you as an example on how to upgrade for others

  Questions
How many races did you do to upgrade?

Did you use any collegiate races?

Do memorial park crits make it easier to upgrade?

Did you go through Bonnie Walker directly, or through the website?

When I got my CAT 4 upgrade, I just did it through the website. All you need 10 races that meet the minimum field and distance size. The minimum field size is 10, and the minimum distance is 15 miles for road races and 10 miles for crits. 8 out of my 10 races were collegiate. They officials don't care.

That being said it will probably be hard to use collegiate races to upgrade from 4 to 3. The minimum field size is 30. I think only Cs have fields that large, and if your racing Cs you're probably not ready for CAT 3.

Just saw this topic...thanks Andrew

Since my upgrade is recent I will share.  I upgraded with points from Collegiate and TXbra races. Collegiate B's crit and road races, and a mix of park crits regular crits and state road races.  I followed the link on the txbra website. And since I log my races in my training spreadsheet it was quick and easy.

Btw the park crit rarely break 50+ riders but they're every week so yes its an easy and cheaper way to upgrade!

Thanks for reading

Oh, and not sure if you saw my other post, but Adam, you are in the July 2011 edition of The Racing Post magazine. Look at pg. 11, Houston Grand Crit photo. What a badass...
