Who would be interested in having a team cook out the weekend after the Tech race?  I just want to get an idea of who would be interested so we can make plans for this.  Ideas are welcome.

What about riding and cooking from the Huntsville State Park like you mentioned? Shoot, I'd even be tempted to camp. It's only an hour from Houston, right? And engulfed in the Sam Houston National Forest. Or do they let us bbq at Alkek after some track action? Just crazy ideas...

That is easter weekend (I am not sure if that matters at all)

But I should be in. A ride then cookout would be cool... or whatever you guys think.

Keep me posted!

I looked at the distance between Houston and the aforementioned park, its about 130 km which a good ride but who can be eager to cook after that?

I had not thought about easter Afton, but if we do it Saturday it shouldn't be a problem right because most people do the easter thing on Sunday.
Sibu-we were thinking about driving there and then starting a ride from there and then cooking out.  We were looking at the service roads on the way back and they were pretty much desolate and rolling hills.
Andrew- the Alkek idea sounds pretty good too and I think there is a park next to it that has grills

I like the track idea- but I am not sure if everyone has track bikes? Plus they are only open tues/thurs nights, as well as before races on friday night. Unless we talk to them about getting them to open it just for us on a saturday. But I am not sure how much that would cost...

Carl Jones, the old and OG Prez of the team could help us out with the track idea maybe...

I just met him Tuesday! He was so rad... he was stoked to know the team is still together and going strong!

according to the Alkek website they are open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and if you don't own a track bike like myself then you can rent one there.  supposedly the first 5 sessions are free too.

The website isn't up to date. The guy said
that they're open only Tues/Thurs from 6-8pm now, but like Afton said, we could try talking to him about Saturday if there's interest. He said something about high school or other groups on saturdays sometimes so it's possible.
They let me go free the first time I went, but they didn't mention the 5 free times. The rental bike was better than I expected and I brought my own pedals, shoes, & helmet. The bikes have shoe cages if you don't bring pedals.
