Hey everyone! Hope your summer is treating you well.

I dont have exact details- but there will be a collegiate track series this summer. There are three dates for this series, and are as follows:
July 23-24th at Alkek Velodrome, Houston, Texas
August 6th- Superdrome, Frisco, Texas (Dallas area)
August 12-13th- Conference Championships at Alkek Velodrome, Houston, Texas

I would love to see some more coogs out there besides myself.

If you dont have a track bike, not to worry. They have bikes available at the track! If you want or need any more info about the track, email me at: afton@shamacycles.com and I will do my best to find out the answer for you.

I know A&M will have a solid showing, as well as some UT people, and possibly MSU. Lets get out there guys!

Great Adam! If we can get a group together... Eric and I will gladly come out... Eric has taught me everything I know when it comes to the track. He has been doing it along time, and knows what hes talking about. He can even do like a little coaching/training session for the Coogs.

Practice sessions are from 6-9pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If you need to get certified.. New collegiate racer certification takes place on Saturday, July 23rd from 9am-12pm. If you have not previously been certified, this is where you will need to do it.

Certified for what?

I've already raced out there 3 times last year...they never said anything about certification.

You should be good then. If you have raced before. I couldnt remember if you had raced out there already or not. If people want to race that have never been out there before- they will need to get certified. You have to be a 4 on the track to race.. and everyone starts as a 5 on the track. Have you ever submitted your upgrade on the track? Does it say you are a 5 or 4?

I need a head count of who's planning on attending the race next weekend so I can notify the race coordinator. I will also need to know if you are a new rider that needs to be certified. I don't know when that is. Afton, do you know?

I might be able to pay the team's entry fee for the race next weekend.

Hello fellow coogs.  It's time to start talking about officer postions for the upcomming year.   We have lots of things to disscuss and sports clubs very much prefers things early vs. on time.  I will available next week on Monday and Tusesday for all that would like to get something started.  Also please feel free to contact me by phone or email.  Hope to hear from people interested in becoming officers.

Well it was a very tough weekend of racing.  Racing Saturday night and then again Sunday morning is a toll on the body.

And now for the results....
Women A:
Afton! is clearly in points lead of the Women's class! Dominating almost every race this weekend, there's not much more explaining needed except that this girl is super strong racer and can turn a bigger gear than most men.  Congratulations!

Mens A:  this one will take a little more explaining...
I was the only Men rider for Houston that could make it but that was okay because A&M had 8 riders to block the wind.  At the end of the evening on Saturday Shane Haga led with 19 points and me in second with only 8, kinda alot to make up right?  Well Sunday morning came around really fast and points leader did not show up leaving valuable points up for grabs, and with only two races awarding points there wasn't much chance I was going to catch up, but I managed a 2nd in the 42 lap points race and 1st in the Miss & Out giving me 12 points and the overall win for the weekend. Yay!

So Coogs are #1 in both the womens and mens categories for the SCCCC division-Track.
