I missed the meeting tonight, didn't see anyone I recognized as cyclists but I left at 7:15! Anyways, Im sure Ill catch up sometime.

I am a new student to U of H (NSM), mid 20's, from a motocross and street bike background. Now that I live in the city and have calmed down I settled on mountain biking primarily and have been exploring the sport for the last 6 months. I feel that my background on bikes puts me far ahead of a typical rider this new into the sport, though Im learning a ton, especially about the gear and the bikes. I ride a Gray Fisher Trek, or quite often a cheap bike I bought for a girlfriend that I think I like better (its a mans Marin but small 17inch frame so I can push it around easily) especially if my intention is to have fun jumping (or crashing if you want to be more accurate).

I am interested in road biking in the near future, but that will come behind something I can jump into a tree or throw off the side of a cliff and pick it up at the bottom and still ride. I keep breaking my stuff and its expensive.

I am interested in rides of all sorts (I use my Trek for 20-25 mile street rides and haven't really had the opportunity/need to go farther than that yet), and even activities that revolve around that, such as service projects, so I would like to join the group and get to know the riders in the area, and look forward to seeing some of you around!

Thanks, -John.

nice sn!

welcome. get in contact with Joey if you plan on doing any MTB races which the season has already started.

we have some group rides in the works and we will keep you posted on the forums. you can, however, post up in the short notice rides and maybe someone will join you. just give at least a 2 to 24 hr notice if you will be doing so.

glad you could find us and see you on the road/trails soon!

Didnt see the post in time. Ill send you an email and we'll talk there.

On another note, I tried Jack Brooks park, if you guys havent seen how awesome it is look up some youtube stuff (they have a lot of man made things like a teeter-totter out there in the woods). It happens to be about five miles from where I use to live and still have an empty house and also where my parents live, it would be a good base of operations to go out to the park one weekend as we could use the houses for showers/pools in the mid day heat and hit the trails twice in the cooler portions of the day. If anyone heads out there let me know as Id love to join. Anyways, Im sure Ill connect with some of you as time goes on.........

Forgot to mention...if you see a guy riding a Marin with pink pedals, pink water bottle holder, and bright bright pink grips......thats me! I also have a Trek X-Cal but I bought this Marin for a girlfriend and accessorized it in pink and then we broke up. I think now that its there, and has become a running joke with my friends, the pink will stay. I keep waiting for a breast cancer ride.........
