The AdRock is alive and in good health and should be feared by many SCCCC Men's A riders... inasmuch I believe its time to start training if you haven't already. Remember college is always there, your youth will not be. So with a little introduction we more forward to a training regime that will satisfy even your mommas wishes.
Last year was a huge year for Cougar Cycling (4th overall)...looking to build upon 4th this year (less Afton!, damn u). Times are hard, we'll have long drives, little sleep, and close quarters but dont shy away. It will be fun and you'll learn alot and come away stronger. Now lets shift gears to the biking part of the business.
Training should be based on the
SCCCC schedule here (
http://www.thescccc.org/p/calendar.html), and I suggest it consist of the following so plan accordingly:
-base mileage (usually when its super cold and you dont want to ride) 700 miles (tentative)
-long rides, follow immediately (80-100 miles max)
60/ride is sufficient
-pelaton rides,
40-50 mi, asap (i.e. there's some good group rides around H-town or AUSTIN that will mimic a race atmosphere please indulge)
-adaptation rides,
20-60 mi so i call them (where you focus on how you can improve your position while mainting a comfortable position in the saddle, either on the hoods in the drop. Focus on your efficiency!! (head down knees in) choose a landmark and pedal for it. For instance I have a knee problem so I spend many miles focusing on not hurting it by improving my position and stroke.
To be continued.....
