I am letting you know that Danny has stepped down as president of the cycling team. Thanks for all your hard work Danny.
I have been promoted to President, and I have named Jeff Betters Vice President. Former president Blake Krause will also be volunteering his time to help us run the team. For those who are participating in the MS150, Jessica Wheeler is making all the arrangements related to that. Her training rides should start soon, BTW. We will be holding a meeting soon to announce several changes that are taking place with the team. All of the changes are good news to you guys. Racing also starts soon, so I hope everyone has been training.
I might start showing up for team rides again soon, as my knee is improving. I rode for 70 min today without pain.
Just to make you aware, as a full-time student, part-time exercise physiologist, and college athlete, I am extremely busy, and it will be impossible for me to run this club on my own. The other officers are going to help me a great deal, but I also need your assistance to keep this club running. What this team really needs right now is new members. Many of our core members will be graduating this spring (some have already graduated), so I need all of you to tell other students about the cycling team and to bring new members in. This will insure the program remains strong for many years. Right now we have less than a dozen active members. We need to triple this, especially on the women's side. Blake, Jeff, and I can't do the work alone. You guys have to go out there too, talk up the cycling team, and convince other students to join. Basically, we need more active members to increase the visibility of the team and bring in more sponsorships and money. This will allow us to do things like buy a team trailer, order dirt cheap bikes and apparal, and offer academic scholarships to riders. I'm counting on you guys to help us pull this off.

no kidding...being a student and running a team must be hell. it would be cool if a willing alum would be a somewhat full time "coach/administrator" like blake only lasting more than 2 years.

ya, I will be helping the team out until I move back to Austin. Then, I will be too busy riding....unless ya'll get me a blackberry to keep helping ya'll out . That would go over well at the budget proposal. "lacrosse, sorry ya'll only get $200 for the year because an alum of the cycling team needs a blackberry."

The cycling thing I don't show up because I just don't feel like (at times). The social stuff is due to time constraints. I do try to come for those, and will continue to, but too many classes, and too many assignments. I'll try to not disappear this semester though.
