Hey guys,

I need some advice here, bike barn has their "SUPER SALE" this weekend and I saw that they have the blackburn fluid trainer going for $170 and it's usually sold for $250.00.  Is this a good trainer to get? or should I just spend a little more and get one that will actually benefit me.

I am planing on putting it inside my house in the game room.  I've never used a trainer before so I also don't know if they're loud or what not.

Thanks for the advice

I didn't know they carried the blackburn trainers, but I haven't worked there in a while now.  I will try and look at them and post back later.

Not a bad price for a decent trainer.  As long as you are getting one that is not sturdy (i.e. made with plastic parts) I wouldn't be too worried.  It will probably be like almost any fluid style trainer that doesn't have any adjustability, which is usually worry free for the lifetime.  If the price is the best around you have see for it, or a Cyclops Fluid, I say go for it.

Fluid trainers are the way to go, unless you have the funds for a CompuTrainer.

I think somone told me that the BlackBurn Fluid (i'm not sure if it's true or not) takes a while to warm-up (10 to 15 mins).  Does anyone know anything about that? and also...if it does have to warm up... is that a pain in the ass?

one more thing, does it really matter that the adjustment knobs are made out of plastic?

How would you say it ranks against the cyclops magneto ($250)?

sorry im asking alot of questions, im just a striaght up noob so.. I just don't want to buy anything crappy

All trainers take time to warm up, but about 5-10 not 10-15. And no, during warm up it's not that big of a deal (you're also warming up, remember  Wink ).
As for the knobs, if the handle is plastic it's okay as long as the inner parts, where it actually touches your skewer, are from metal (which i'm sure they are). Otherwise most trainers have plastic outer knobs and handles.
And since I dont know anything about the cyclops magneto, I cant comment on that. I own a Mag 850 myself, it's magnetic and LOUD (got it before fluid trainers came out, or atleast before they were affordable  Grin).

I have a Cyclops Fluid 2 and love it. I have ridden the Magneto version as well, but if you can put out the extra bucks for a Fluid 2 it is worth it. I have heard good things about the Blackburn and Kurt Kinetic as well, but have never ridden either of them.
