Registration for the 2006 MS150 (Houston to Austin) is now open. Anyone planning on riding should register now, before the 13,000 rider limit is reached. Last year, registration closed in January.

This year's ride will take place on April 22-23. The collegiate racing season will be over by then, so all riders should be able to participate. It will a fun, relaxing way to end the season.

The minimum fundraising requirement is now $400 (up from $300 last year), so start asking for donations.

For information on the ride and to register, go to: http://www.ms150.org/ms150/

Like if you're not part of a corporation or firm where they pay for you to participate, how are you supposed to fundraise?

No one is paid to participate. Every rider is required to raise at least $400, which funds multiple sclerosis research.

Raising the money isn't as hard as it sounds. Just ask people you know, like your friends, family, neighbors, and church for donations. Even small donations ($10) will help you reach the total. Although I have not used this technique, I hear mass emails are most effective.

Donations are not due until May, after the race, so it should be easy to raise $400, if you start now.

If you can't think of people to ask for donations, you're just not trying. Here a few suggestions from the MS 150 website: http://www.ms150.org/ms150/fund_raising/fund-raising_tips.cfm

hold off on registration.  We need to confirm the team name before we do this.  We dont want a TeamUH and a Cougarcycling being set up when we're trying to combine the two.  Ima speak to Jessica soon about this.  More than likely we're putting ourselves under teamuh.  I'll let yall know when it's a go.

Does UH sponsor the MS150 for us in anyway? Do they pay registration fees or is it all up to us?

The $50 registration fee is up to the individual.  What the team will offer, is a fundraising pool.  Everyone should try and raise the $400 on their own.  Those who are able to raise more will assist the ones who are unable to meet the minimum.

Glad to have you on the forums, Stefanie.

West End Bike Shop, near Shepherd and Allen Parkway. All it needed was new tires (I admit I have not ridden it since MS150 2004!) but I promise I'll catch up - I run regularly to keep in shape.

come on Mo, didn't you learn your lesson last year.  It's not like we didn't warn anybody that this was going to happen.
