Yeah, I take joint supplements too for my Right knee. If you guys remember I have issues with my right knee that i'm still trying to figure out. I used to take fish oil before (my dad has some that were about to expire, so I downed it  Grin), and didn't really know what it was supposed to do. Guess my heart was healthier then?  Roll Eyes

im playing with some stuff we learnt in school. its just plain ole BCAAs, branched chain amino acids, leucine isoleucine and valine, they are basically what protein is made of and what you may find in a lot of pre-workout drinks, the difference here is that you are bypassing all the sugars and crap that comes along with the drinks and inhibits absorption. okay, so what they do is basically blocks the mechanism that creates tryptophan and serotonin, which are found in high levels in turkey, thanksgiving naps anyone? basically telling you that you are tired and making u not want to cycle longer. blake...eating mid ride is a perfect example. taking them 30-45 min before the ride should be about right to let them get into your system.  then and prbly MORE importantly post ride, or workout, glutamic acid, or L-glutamate, within two hours. glutamine is found in high concentrations in skeletal muscle and is the foundation for muscle rebuilding.

dosages depend on body weight, and they are VERY cheap. im talking 10 bucks is lilke 120 caps, but u may have to do some searching for the right cap amt. BCAAs dose range from 4-8g and Glutamine can be from 3-15g. they suugest you start at low ranges and work up as needed. the combination should boosy your overall energy throughout the day as well.

Oh im sorry and for joints, studies have shown NOTHING is better then CoQ-10. if i remember correctly is basically the stuff cartlige and tendons are made of. ive got my parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles sucking it down, its good stuff.

the fish oils are chalk full of omega 3 fatty acids, which are awesome to reduce inflammation, a GREAT substitute if for acetaminaphen, advil and Ibprofen, that is unless u want to tear up you stomache...read the warnings on advil!!!!

all those things i listed are all natural things, the amino acids are about as basic as you can get, the glutamine is something your body makes itself. fish oils (omega fatty acids), CoQ-10, are found in small amounts in food, they just made them into caps in larger amounts so you dont have to eat ten pounds of fish and meat to get what you get in the pills. so....

ya, I am not big into taking any kind of medicine...as dumb as that may sound, but recently I have started to take stuff that is good for me.  I figured out that I am not eating enough of the stuff I need to keep me going the way I am working out.  That is why I take stuff like glutamine (my joints were giving me problems from running), and fish oil (inflamation mainly from....running).  Just recently I figured out that I need something to combat cramps.  I would never take anything that is unnatural or bad for me just to get a boost on the amateur cycling level, ha.
