The Lone Star Half Iron Distance is an official qualifier for the USA Triathlon Halfmax National Championships at the Innsbrook Resort, St. Louis, MO, September 15, 2008. Finish in the top-20% of your age group or finish within a certain qualifying time for your age group at The Lone Star Half Iron and earn a spot on the starting line!

This is right up my alley.  Perfect weekend to prepare myself for Ironman Brazil on May 25.  All I need is my Transition, and the cougar triathlon suit!!

If I understand what you mean, I signed up for the century swimming club for $5 at the Welcome Desk in the Rec Center.  The idea is to swim 100 miles in a year or less by recording your distances after every swim at the lifeguard office.

the practices are Mon-Fri at 5pm-7pm, just show up at the CRWC center pool a little early, and talk to Coach Taylor, or Jason. If you have any questions let me know.

Since the Baylor road race was canceled, I registered for the sprint triathlon on Saturday and the half iron on Sunday.  I want to go to Galveston on Friday and hang out at Moody Gardens (www.moodygardens.com) or even Schlitterbahn.  Anyone interested in coming along for fun or to race?

Phillip, an owner of Sugar Cycles. Has asked me to ask for volunteers at this event. It would be a great way to get to know a bunch of the shop riders, and get to see a tri for those that have never seen it. So go and watch it and help out one of our sponsors.

Personally, I still haven't decided if I am doing it or not but either way I will be out there for Saturday.

Saturday's sprint race was a warm up for Sunday's Half Ironman.

I ended up 4th in age group for both events, so no hardware this time.  My goal in the half was to finish in 5 hours I finished just over in 5:02.  I want to do the full Ironman in 11 hours, so this race was at a little faster pace.

John and Liam racing for Sugar Cycles got 2nd and 4th (respectively) in the overall.

Some keys I need to work on before the Ironman in Brazil.  Transition times and swimming.  Running is definately my strength.  Cycling will get better as I get more comfortable on aero bars, hopefully on a Specialized Transition.

Thanks Izzy for the TT bars.

Thanks to those who came out to support.
