Ok, so this thing about hypotonic, Isotonic, hypertonic....during moments such as a 45 mile race, is it more important to be focusing on the electrolytes and everything else that are lost, or the hydration? Wouldn't there be a reason for these supplement companies to all take the same path?

i mean, its really hard to say pinpoint the problem in your case, what works for you might be totally different then the next guy (or girl). i read studies about these things all the time, not specifically cramps but a lot of nutritional stuff where deficiencies are causes and its so different from person to person, maybe your diet that week was low in sodium and potassium, or high in something that depletes sodium and potassium. its not easy to do but somehow we need to pinpoint our problems and find what works to fix em, rolaids worked for some people, but i bet that there are some it did nothing for, bananas work awesome for some people, me, nothing. maybe they've (drink co.) found what works for the majority of people the majority of the time...thats my guess

I think I may know the problem to your cramps. Maybe, just maybe... you were in the resturant before the race and had a few to many sake bombs with some crazy white bartender. due to the lack of hydration and the promotion of lactic acid. i say you are consuming way to much alcohol before a race. In theory, don't do want I do! hahaa
