How long and how hard is it?  Could someone whose current idea of mountain biking only includes curbs do it?

That is the reason we were going to Double Lake.  It is seriously the easiest mtb trail that I have ever been on.  Many beginners have learned there.  My mtb is up for grabs during spring break for anyone wanting to use it at double lake.
