And off-campus...

Any suggestions on places to go or people to see for some coaching?

Morgan gives some discounted lessons.  She used to do lessons at our old sponsors place, but not sure where you could swim until the water warms up.  Pm her.

I was a swimmer through my undergrad years, and I'm always down to help people out (although I can't do it every day).  If you'd like a daily practice, the swim coogs is a club team that practices at the pool, you don't have to be a student to join.  Greg Orphanides is the coach, and he's amazing, has a master's world record in the 1500.  If you're interested, stop in from 5-7 and he'll talk to you, and will let you swim two weeks for free.

Hey guys, I'll be at the rec pool today starting around 5:30.  I'm going to try to get as much as 5k in, but that'll probably change depending on whether or not I get bored lol.  Anyhow, if anyone wants to join, I could use the company!

I really miss swimming. Grin

Hey Guys!  I just wanted to bump this thread and remind everyone that the swim coogs club team is practicing again.  I am really hoping to get a good group of Master's swimmers together!  The fees are as follows- $50/month for "master's" category,  For non students there's also a $20-30/month fee to access the pool.  This isn't the club's doings, it's the school's.  However, you can get full access to the rec center for $290/yr and then not pay that monthly fee.

I think the key for everyone in this area isn't to knock a drastic amount of time off their swim, but instead to knock time off their swim split AND feel like that was the easiest part of your race.

Anyhow, come check out the swim coogs team for 2 weeks free.  If there are enough of us, greg knows a lot of drills and techniques for open water racing that unfortunately I can't do alone haha

PM me if you'd like me to take you to the practice sometime.

well now that i'm out of a job for a while, I might have to stop by and check things out at least.  I'm having foot surgery in the next week or two so it'll have to be some time after that for me to actually jump in...but at least for now I can come learn the lessons by observing. Tongue

I think I just might be able to swing that on Friday.  I'll see you there!

When are you headed out to LoneStar?  Are you on the sprint? I don't recall...
