Wondering if anybody else has ever had this problem.

If I ride more than about 30 miles my toes start to "cramp"..  whereas it feels like I've hyperextended them or something from pushing down on them.

Is it something I can control?  Is it my shoes? How I press on the pedal?  My socks maybe?

I try to curl my toes downward to stretch it out a bit, but man it hurts like hell, and its hard to even do it while riding..

Any advice appreciated.

Ok...I'm no PRO, by all means, but I've been doing spinning for a couple years and I keep some of the suggestions the instructors give as to posture, form etc.

I don't know if this is even related, but it sounds like you're pushing more with the tip of your feet than with the ball of your feet--which is what I've learned as the "correct" form. When you've got your heel down, you should be able to wiggle your toes.

Mk..I think I was about to make this more confusing than what it has to be...

hmm...suggestion: when you begin to feel tension/cramping, etc. wiggle your toes b/c if you're wiggling your toes...the weight and energy isn't being focused on your toes--which I guess gives bad form and can cause injury.
...or something like that.

Maybe you should hit the gym and do some toes.  Just kidding, I think John H is on the right path though.  You shouldn't be having any pressure on your toes while pedaling.  This could be your pedaling style, or your positioning on the bike might be too forward.
