Well, it looks like I'm going to be back in town this week, so anyone up for some cross practice/instruction before the race? I'm open to any day other than Monday. Maybe practice for an hour and go for a short ride after. We can either pre-ride the planned course for this year's race or meet up at one of the other parks. Speak up and it will happen.
Also, everyone that's still in town, please try to clear your calendars for our race on January 8th and some time Saturday afternoon to set up the course. It requires a lot of people to do correctly and our sponsors definitely pay attention to this race.
By the way, housing approved the race on Friday. Only one to go...

Thanks Blake.
I'm guessing you're back in Austin, now. I am also in Austin at this moment.

i'll be back in town on the 31st, and up for practice whenever is convenient for all. i guess i have to show, seeing as danny totally bribed me with a pedal wrench if i race . . . sheesh. you guys are a tough sell.
okay, so who's got thoughts on this: what do i race? i have a trek 2300, the wheels of which i do not want to wreck. and a specialized langster, which, if i swap the chainring for a 39 or so & flip the rear to free wheel, i would not object to riding 'cross. what sounds best? i have no objections to a mountain bike, if someone wants to hook me up.
and hows about a jersey?
merry christmas, all! happy holidays as well!

V, The course is not that bumpy, but I still wouldnt feel 100% about you using your nice rims for the race. So there are a couple of options. A) You might be able to borrow the team set of wheels for the race, if we can find some tires to throw in them, B) I should be borrowing Carl's cross bike which would leave my 05 Trek 8500 open for someone, its a size 19.5" but its offered to you first if you want it, or C) you could come out swinging with that Langster and look like a rock star on a pretty flat course. Let me know which is sounding the best, I am sure Danny will comment too.

Yeh we talked about it a bit at the store. I already offered the team's Bontrager Selects to V, and I think she should throw it on the trek. But you get bonus cool points for doing it on the langster

Danny and I have decided to go out and practice the course this Wed around noon or early afternoon. If anyone would like to come out and practice just show up. Let us know if we need to change the time.

Sounds good. I'll be out there at 1:00 to show the exact course and maybe offer some tips. Maybe I can get some opinions on whether or not I should do something with all those dirt mounds sitting out there...

I'll try to get there around 1 also. I dont know if I can ride the course on my giant or not, so I'll bring my "Vertical" mtn bike just in case. See you guys there.

If anything, your Giant would be pretty darn good on the course. Your fork and stays are wide enough to accomodate 30c tires I believe, so you could essentially turn that into a cross bike. I'll bring some tires for you to try it out.

i think i'll try my 2300, if i can borrow those wheels. i think your mountain bike would be a little big, especially for my first 'cross, but thanks for the offer!
